Use Of Sodium Formate

Dec 03, 2021

(1) Used to produce formic acid

Formic acid can be obtained by reacting sodium formate with sulfuric acid. At the same time, sodium sulfate is a by-product, and the production process is simple.

The development and utilization of formic acid abroad is good, the application scope is expanding year by year, and the amount of formic acid is also increasing. The largest consumption of formic acid abroad is leather, which is used for tanning and leather treatment to prevent mildew. The second major use is agriculture, which is used to preserve green feed and grain.

(2) Production of oxalic acid with Lai

After dehydrogenation to sodium oxalate, sodium oxalate is leaded by lead sulfate and acidified by sulfuric acid to obtain oxalic acid.

Oxalic acid, scientific name: oxalic acid; molecular formula: c2h2o4, mainly used as reducing agent and bleaching agent, mordant in printing and dyeing industry, etc.; it is also widely used in rare earth refining. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce antibiotics, borneol and other drugs. It is used to synthesize all kinds of oxalate, oxalate and oxalamide.

(3) Used to produce sodium bisulfite (sodium bisulfite)

Sodium formate, sodium pyrosulfite and liquid SO2 are synthesized in methanol medium to generate insurance powder suspension, which is then transferred to a four in one dryer for filtration, washing and vacuum drying. Soda ash is added into the package.

Insurance powder is mainly used in textile and printing and dyeing industries as dye aid and bleach. It is also the raw material of pharmaceutical industry and synthetic dyes. It is also used in copper plate printing and analytical reagents.
