What Effects Does Potassium Formate Have On The Human Body?

Potassium formate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula KCOOH. Its main uses include antifreeze, deicing agents, liquid fertilizers and industrial chemicals.
1. Inhalation of potassium formate dust or aerosol may cause respiratory irritation, symptoms include coughing, sore throat and difficulty breathing.
2. Potassium formate is irritating to the skin and may cause redness, itching or rash. Contact with potassium formate solution or dust may cause eye irritation, tearing, redness and pain.
3. Ingestion of potassium formate may cause gastrointestinal discomfort, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

First aid measures
If potassium formate is inhaled, it should be moved to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, artificial respiration is required and medical treatment is sought as soon as possible. In case of accidental skin contact, the contact area should be rinsed with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, and contaminated clothing should be removed at the same time. If there is persistent irritation or other symptoms, medical treatment should be sought as soon as possible. If ingested, rinse the mouth with water immediately, do not induce vomiting, and seek medical treatment as soon as possible.
The following precautions are recommended when handling potassium formate:
Wear protective clothing, protective gloves and goggles.
Work in a well-ventilated environment.
Avoid inhalation of dust or mist and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
